Exciting night!
Fun night last night that began yesterday morning when I started having bad cramping on and off in my lower abdomen area. I shrugged it off a little and laid down for awhile then it began to get worse with the cramping coming closer together in the evening and I could feel my uterus tightening and loosening during these cramps that I now know were contractions. I got nervous and decided to go to the hospital just to get checked out and I was dilated to a fingertip and my cervix had started to shorten. I was immediately put on something to stop the labor and now I am the super excited winner of 18 long weeks of strict bed rest. We didn't get home from the hospital until this morning and my husband had to immediately take a shower, got dressed and went to work while I went to sleep. Poor thing.

I've been super tired and mildly upset all day because there go my plans for an unmedicated home birth. Then comes the feelings of guilt because it shouldn't matter as long as my daughter is healthy and full term right? Of course, but I hate hospitals. Bleh.

I'm so sorry! Bedrest sucks but it's what's best for baby girl! The stuff they use to stop labor is usually pretty effective. (I needed it during my first pregnancy at 28 weeks & again at 35.) Just follow the doctors orders and make sure you take it easy. Much easier said than done, I know.

Also, if you have Facebook/Instagram/Pintrest check out Birth Without Fear. They also have a blog. It may help.

Thank you. My friend is super jealous of me because I get to "laze around in bed all day" and I told her to try being stuck in bed for 18 weeks and get back to me. But it'll be worth it. I've heard about Birth Without Fear but I didn't know they were on Pinterest!

Bed rest is anything but fun. Laying in bed is fun, when you want to. Not when you have to.

She just started her Pintrest after being banned from Facebook for like the millionth time for "inappropriate" pictures. She's amazing though. I love her and all of the birth stories.

Yep, I just said goodbye to my evening (not like I had any plans though :P). I love Birth Without Fear, it makes me feel so empowered.

Oh no! I read about this on Twitter earlier! Hopefully the bed rest will help, although 18 weeks of doing absolutely nothing sounds super boring, but I'm sure it will be best for your baby.

I just need to take the pressure off my cervix, essentially. She's just too excited to make an appearance, but she's not aware that she isn't done baking yet. :P

My Aunt was having early contractions with my second cousin and was put on a long bed rest as well, she passed the time with Netflix. I hope you are feel better soon, I would be upset too. :( Keep comfortable.

I'm pretty glad we have both Netflix and Hulu Plus. :P Also a large book collection and a handy knitting habit. Thank you. Hopefully my little one decides she wants to incubate until July when she's scheduled to make her appearance.

Oh no! 18 weeks of bed rest sounds tedious D:
While I agree that the most important thing is your daughter being healthy, I also think your feelings are natural and you shouldn't feel guilty about them.

Thank you! It sounds like the most tedious thing ever but it'll definitely be worth it in the end.

I'm sorry to hear that :( My sister had a lot of issues with her pregnancy and she had to stop working two months before her maternity leave was supposed to start, but she was never put to bedrest. I hope things go well!

Thank you! I hope the next 18 weeks goes by fast. :|

Wow!!! I'm so glad you didn't lose your baby!

I know you are disappointed that you aren't going to have your birth your way but I guess conceding to that is a small price to pay. I hope everything else goes smoothly for you!</p>

Scary stuff indeed. I hope you get the rest you need and I know it sounds boring just laying around but just take the time to get things done that you wanted but didn't have the time.
