My Valentines Day...
... Was spent alone. Sam and I were getting ready to hunker down and enjoy a night in when suddenly his phone rings. The center his store is in completely lost power after dark and the partners were all spazzing out because it was busy and no one knew if they were allowed to close and go home or if they had to wait it out (for my new friends, he's a Store Manager for Starbucks). So he had to go in and do damage control. Helped them herd the customers out of the lobby to avoid safety issues and be there in case some nut tried to take advantage of the power outage and tried to rob the store. The building manager came through and told them to just close down because the power was going to be out the rest of the night.

I'm not upset or anything as neither of us really care about valentines day in general. Just a funny little hiccup in the evening. Hope everyone else's valentines was special!

Yeah Valentines Day is just a day to celebrate something you should already be celebrating daily anyways. The store fiasco sounds like a total pain though, and its never fun when they have to leave once they are already home for the evening! Sorry!

Surprises mean more to me. :) Receiving a gift on valentines day seems more like an act of obligation rather than love to me personally.

Exactly, i would rather him show up with dinner one day to be sweet than to have someone remind him at work its Valentines Day so he feels obligated to buy me a box of chocolates because Hallmark told him he should.

We didn't really do anything special either, I kinda think Valentines is more for newer relationships and crushes. When you've been together a long while, it seems kind of unnecessary to make a big deal of it.

I guess that's the most annoying thing about being a manager, having to always be ready and available in emergencies! Russell is the deputy manager at our store but our manager is so useless and lazy it's always Russell that ends up having to sort stuff out!

Yeah, the novelty kind of wears off after awhile. Also I feel like getting someone gifts and flowers and such on valentines day feels more like an obligation than a gesture of love. Surprises mean more!

I hate the card holiday. What a waste of energy. Lol
